Sharps and Flats is a daily music review. Jason Kay, leader of Jamiroquai, is not held in high regard by most of the music press. He is persistently written off as a white guy playing black music, a hapless Stevie Wonder clone, the walking embodiment of the simple-minded New Age hippie.

"No computer trickery was used," he says. "What we did was put the whole set on wheels and attach the camera to one wall. The furniture also had little wheels, and we had guys moving the set and the furniture [outside of the frame]. The floor never moved.

Jason "Jay" Kay (born Jason Luís Cheetham; 30 December 1969) is a British singer and songwriter. He co-founded the acid jazz and funk band Jamiroquai, formed in 1992, and serves as their lead vocalist. As of 2017, the band sold more than 26 million copies worldwide.

While under this label, three of their albums have charted at number one in the UK, including Emergency on Planet Earth (1993), Synkronized (1999) and A Funk Odyssey (2001). The band's 1998 single, "Deeper Underground", was also number one in their native country.
